The vote to approve GMOs will happen within the next few days in the Law Project of Federal Parliamentarian Confúcio Moura (PMDB/RO) in the Special Commission that evaluates the 19 Law Projects (PLs) on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that passed in the House of Representatives. This report will come along with a PL Substitute to the 19 originals, to be voted on by the Commission. If approved, it will be the official PL of the Chamber for the vote in Congress.

The PL allows the unrestricted spread of the culture and commercialization of GMOs in Brazil, without the necessary investigation of consumer, environmental and health risks, without minimum guarantees to protect the national economy and the rights of Brazilian farmers and without full notification to consumers.

Before this vote happens, we need to pressure the House members who sit on the Special Commission not to allow the approval of this PL substitute. Email messages to the Special Commission Secretary at: secoe.decom@camara.gov.br
