HUMAN RIGHTS SECTOR

MAssacre of CarajasViolations of human rights, such as arrests and imprisonments, assassinations, torture, death threats, and violent expulsions are constant events suffered by landless rural workers. The Human Rights Sector is responsible for denouncing and reporting these violations to national and international human rights organizations.  Its most important activities include:

• Training on the fundamental essential human rights of Brazilian citizens as well as agricultural legislation in the MST’s diverse courses and gatherings;

• Public legal assistance network composed of a team of 500 attorneys across Brazil.
