Proposals to overcome social and economic crisis will be presented today (June 5) on our social networks (See the Emergency Plan below and the Special Report, also below.)

June, 2020, the pandemic of the new Coronavirus that has so far infected more than 550 thousand people and killed more than 30 thousand in Brazil, showed the size of the economic crisis faced by the country. This crisis is prior to the global outbreak of the disease and whose main cause is the economic policy of the government of Jair Bolsonaro, which is moving towards austerity, with deep cuts in public investments.

Therefore, we launched the Emergency Plan for People’s Agrarian Reform. In it, we list protection and production measures that aim to guarantee decent living conditions for the rural population.

The nature of the Bolsonaro government is to provoke conflict, but the movement seeks to carry out People’sr Agrarian Reform by putting pressure on state governments, the Judiciary and the spheres of civil society where there is dialogue. In view of this, we launched the Emergency Plan for People’s Agrarian Reform, in which we list protection and production measures that aim to ensure decent living conditions for the rural population.

The Plan, launched on the world environment day, June 5, aims to guide agrarian reform in society, highlighting that we are also experiencing an environmental crisis related to the pandemic and has been generated by the unsustainable exploitation of natural goods. In response to these crises, the MST points out its multiple actions around environmental preservation, such as the massive planting of trees and the production of agro-ecological foods, pointing out that agrarian reform is essential to ensure that large cities are supplied with healthy food, affordable price.

Follow the official launch this Friday, 5, at 10 am, on the MST pages on social networks. Simultaneous actions will also be carried out in another 21 states.
