150,000 people participated this Sunday (May 28, 2017) in a historical act for direct elections, at
the Copacabana beach. The protest was convened by artists and organized by the Brazil Popular Front and People Without Fear, initiatives that gather hundreds of popular movements, union centrals and leftist parties. The demonstration began at 11am and the beach remained full until 7pm.
Joao Pedro Stédile is not only a fundamental part of the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement, 
but also a member of the Brazil Popular Front, which as of late has become Michel Temer’s worst nightmare.
In this interview, by our collaborator Geraldina Colotti, Stédile addresses the current situation in Brazil, and the probable exits to the crisis, including Temer’s fall and the call to direct elections now.
It was raining in São Paulo when young people from the MST and the Popular Rising of Youth, 
in chorus, repeated several times: "it is a time of war, it is a time without sun," taking the front of the main stage of the National Fair of Agrarian Reform. The intervention served to launch a manifesto against the criminalization of social movements and against violence in the countryside, which was beautiful by the singer Tico Santa Cruz on the night of Friday, May 5, 2017.

There was 280 tons of food sold in 4 days in the 2nd National Fair of Land Reform
In the last four days, 170 thousand people attended the second National Fair of Land Reform, in São Paulo (SP), that closed this Sunday (May 7, 2017). According to the Landless Workers' Movement (MST), the event organizer, the event outshined the success of its first edition in 2015, when 150 thousand visitors attended the Fair.
The conference “Healthy Food: A Right for Everyone”, which took place this Saturday May 6, 
2017, became a political act in defense of agroecology and the agrarian reform. According to the Landless Rural Workers’ Movement (MST), around 10 thousand people attended the activity, which is part of the Second National Fair of the Agrarian Reform.
150,000 people mobilized in Belo Horizonte against coup president Michel Temer’s plan to

Early this Tuesday March 7, around 1,500 women of the Landless Workers Movement (MST) 
paralyzed the industrial complex of Vale Fertilizers Co. at Cubatão (São Paulo) to denounce the debt of the mining company to the Social Security system. Vale is one of the major debtors on the list of the National Treasury General Attorney. The company owes 88 million dollars to the National Institute of Social Security (INSS).
With a program focused on training, the Landless Women's Day of Struggle aims to denounce the setbacks that affect federal and state public policies.
About 500 Landless Women have been mobilized since March 6 in Cuiabá, capital of Mato Grosso for the Day of Struggle of the Landless Women.
